Anupam P. Puri
Advisory Board Member,
Tino Puri passed away on July 27, 2025. He was a Corsair Advisory Board member for many years and served as a mentor and close friend of the firm. As with all the people and institutions who were privileged to have his counsel over the years, Corsair and our team were always struck by his clear thinking and insightful judgement, as well as his intuition about people. He was consistently curious and had a knack for bringing out the best thinking in people. We are deeply saddened by his loss and will miss him greatly.
Tino’s remarkable career began at McKinsey & Company (“McKinsey”) where he spent several decades, from 1970-2000 in a variety of leadership roles. Early in his career at McKinsey, he worked with several governments including the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Australia, and with United Nations agencies and multilateral development banks, on issues of economic development and industrial policy. Among other things, he helped create the plan for Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical industry, participated in the re-structuring of the European textile and steel industries for the European Economic Community (“EEC”), led the creation of a new structure for the Venezuelan oil industry and advised the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (“OPEC”) on oil policy.
From 1990 to 1998, Tino founded and managed McKinsey’s practice in India, recruiting and developing an extraordinary bench of talent. From 1996 onwards, he was an elected member of McKinsey’s Board of Directors, and from 1998 onwards he oversaw all of McKinsey’s Asian, Middle Eastern and Latin American practices.
Tino held an M.Phil. in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford; an M.A. with Distinction in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Balliol College, Oxford, and a B.A. in Economics from Delhi University, where he graduated first in the University academic rankings.
